Information Technology Services (ITS) is moving Ithaca College’s central e-mail system, including all user e-mail messages and address books, to a new system this weekend. The migration will begin Friday, August 8th at 2:00 p.m. and will continue through the afternoon on Saturday, August 9th.

Throughout the migration period, Ithaca College’s e-mail system will be unavailable. ITS will post a System Status Notice (www.ithaca.edu/computing) indicating when the new e-mail system is online.

Important Information about Sending Messages
Anyone who uses an e-mail client program such as Thunderbird, Mac Mail or Versamail (used on Treo Smartphones) will be required to make minor changes to their e-mail program settings to send e-mail messages following the migration. Step-by-step instructions for updating e-mail client settings will be e-mailed to all faculty, staff and students when the migration is complete.

Webmail users do not need to change any settings to send e-mail messages after the migration, but they will notice that the Webmail interface is significantly different from the old Webmail. A new Webmail Quick Guide will be available after the migration.

The ITS Helpdesk phones will be staffed on Sunday, August 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to address any questions about the new system or Webmail interface.

Please contact the ITS Helpdesk if you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming e-mail migration.
