I am pleased to announce that the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies (DIIS) has a new home in the Center for Health Sciences, room 214-1. The office houses dean Tanya R. Saunders; assistant dean Mary Turner DePalma; and Rosalie Fitzgerald, assistant to the dean.
This move unites some of the units within DIIS including the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE) located at 101-CHS, the Office of International Programs (214-2 CHS), and the Gerontology Institute (407-CHS), thus providing a more centralized location for interaction among the programs of the division.
DIIS is the home of Project Look Sharp, the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF), and degree programs in aging studies, culture and communication, and legal studies. In addition, the division offers minors in African diaspora, aging studies, culture and communication, Latino/a studies, legal studies, and Muslim cultures.
In addition to a new location, DIIS also now has 100 percent of Dean Saunders' energies, as she will no longer serve simultaneously as assistant provost. I consider both of these steps positive developments in the maturing process of the division, steps that will enhance its programs and the entire College in the future.
I thank Dean Steve Siconolfi and the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for sharing space with the division and its programs.
