The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series will feature the documentary, For the Bible Tells Me So, on Thursday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Williams 323.

In the film, five Christian families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson -- discuss how people of faith may handle the realization of having a gay child. Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard's Peter Gomes, orthodox rabbi Steve Greenberg, and Reverend Jimmy Creech, For the Bible Tells Me So offers healing, clarity, and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

The film has been honored with numerous awards and nominations:

Sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Education, Outreach, and Services, the film series this year will explore sexual orientation and identity through the lens of faith. The series will present a total of eight films during the fall semester; additional screenings will take place during the spring. All are free and open to the public.

For a complete schedule visit the events section of the LGBT Center website, or contact the LGBT Center for a fall film series postcard.
