OFFICE ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Basic Function
An Office Assistant is a student staff member of the Office of Residential Life. An Office Assistant provides general clerical and office support, answers and directs telephone inquiries, greets visitors, and responds to questions.
General Responsibilities
- Answer office telephones and take messages.
- Provide assistance to callers and walk-in visitors regarding Residential Life policies, procedures and associated concerns.
- Handle paper transactions with regard to applications, forms, and other written materials.
- Provide routine clerical assistance such as copying, collating, data entry, and filing for departmental and professional staff.
- Data entry.
- Periodic pick-up and delivery of Intercampus mail and other light items to and from various campus offices.
- Inventory and track lock out keys (Area and Satellite Offices).
- Check-in and check-out of vacuum cleaners (Area and Satellite Offices).
- Provide lock-out coverage as necessary (Central Office).
- Special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in a clear and friendly manner.
- Willingness to commit for a minimum of one academic year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working for Residential Life.
- Working knowledge of Residential Life’s policies and procedures.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Prior work experience in a professional office setting.
Conditions of Employment
- Applicant must be in good judicial and academic standing with a minimum overall G.P.A. of 2.20.
