Come learn how the Environmental Protection Agency's policy, rule-making, and innovation activities reach the field.

Rick Otis ’76, the EPA's deputy associate administrator in the Office of Policy, Economics, and Innovation, will speak on where EPA is headed next. You can even sample sustainable snacks while you listen! The seminar is Monday, October 20, at 4:00 pm in CNS 115, and is free and open to the public.

Otis (who also received his MBA from Cornell in 1980) is part of the senior management team working to establish and implement national environmental policy. Some current issues he's addressing include greenhouse gases, agricultural pesticide container recycling, lead in the air, underground injection of carbon dioxide, and revisions to spill-control regulations.

The EPA's Office of Policy, Economics, and Innovation is the agency’s primary regulatory arm; working with all other branches and the federal government to provide key analysis and management support on:

• Regulatory policy and management
• Environmental economics
• Environmental innovation
• Cross-media programs
