Professor Barney Beins, chair of the Department of Psychology, gave an invited presentation at the Education Leadership Conference, which was sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, D.C.
The presentation focused on internationalizing education psychology and on issues that will affect that process. Psychologists from throughout the United States and from other countries participated in the meeting.
As part of the conference, he advocated on Capitol Hill for support for the Campus Mental Health Improvement Act. He met with Congressman Maurice Hinchey and with staff members of Senators Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer.
The Education Leadership Conference is an annual invited conference designed to foster undergraduate and graduate education in psychology. He was invited as part of his work as member of APA's Board of Educational Affairs.
