Located in Mumbai and surrounding areas this course will provide a unique cultural and life changing experience for its participants. In this course students will be challenged both physically and emotionally as they experience daily life in one of India’s largest cities and as well, for a short time, participate in the day to day activities of village India in the Maharashtra hill region. While in Mumbai students will learn about a variety of artistic forms such as Bollywood film, craft production, Indian classical and popular music, and will as well visit temples and mosques, galleries and museums. Students will also gain first-hand experience as assistants in an NGO (Able Disabled All Peoples Together) working alongside teachers who teach ‘able disabled’ students. In the final week of the course students will participate in an intensive meditative retreat in the hills of Maharashtra and meet local organic farmers in the region engaging for a short time in village life.
