The Office of International Programs is once again organizing a photo contest during International Education Week, November 12-13 in the Campus Center lobby. Submissions are due November 5.

The contest will accept photographs taken by Ithaca College students while studying abroad, as well as photographs taken by international students in their home countries or in the US. There are two main categories of the contest: People and Places, as well as an additional special category: Sustainability (see below). The photos must be original and taken by the students submitting them for the contest.

Photo Contest Guidelines

Sustainability: Special photo contest category.

Sustainability is a term that is heavily discussed these days. It evokes many images and encompasses a broad array of subjects [with the 3 Ps as the core: people, places, profit or the 3 Es: equity, environment, economy]. Photos that speak to sustainability themes could be of pristine natural areas or buildings designed in harmony with the environment or examples of industrial pollution or habitat destruction. They could also be of people engaged in ‘sustainable practices’ such as organic farming or the construction of ‘green homes’ or, on the contrary, they could be of people being treated ‘unequally’, i.e. living or laboring in inhumane conditions. When submitting photos for this category, please provide a sentence or two about how your photo relates to sustainability.
