Physical Therapy Faculty Present at International Foot and Ankle Conference

Ithaca College's Center for Foot and Ankle Research at the Rochester Center was well represented at the recent International Foot and Ankle Biomechanics conference in Bologna, Italy.

Professor Debbie Nawoczenski, PT, Ph.D., and Smita Rao, PT, Ph.D., postdoctoral scholar in residence in the Department of Physical Therapy, presented six scientific papers that included collaborative work from the Center for Foot and Ankle Research and the University of Rochester's Department of Orthopaedics.

Study investigators from Ithaca were Jeff Houck, PT, Ph.D.; Chris Neville, PT, Ph.D.; and Josh Tome, research biomechanist.

Collaborators from the University of Rochester were Judy Baumhauer, M.D.; Ben DiGiovanni, M.D.; and A. Sam Flemister, M.D.

Topics included the laboratory's research on midfoot arthritis, hallux rigidus (great toe arthritis) and posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction.
