Interested in learning first-hand about global inequalities, colonialism, and human rights? Want to get to know people who make a difference on world issues? Ready for a life-changing experience?

Apply for the spring course, Sociology 312 - Culture and Society: An International Field Experience, to travel to the Dominican Republic in June 2009.

This spring-semester class studies colonialism, development and globalization in the Dominican Republic as preparation for a three-week trip in June 2009.

The travel experience combines classes and hands-on learning about social change, poverty, race relations, human rights, colonialism and neocolonialism, sustainability, and immigration. We visit two social change organizations and travel with them to urban and rural areas. Students are encouraged to share their experiences when they return.
