Dennis Charsky, assistant professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, coauthored a paper published in the September/October 2008 issue of TechTrends, a publication of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology.
The paper is entitled “Integrating Commercial Off-the-Shelf Video Games into School Curriculums" and describes ways in which instructors can use commercial computer and video games, like SimCity and Civilization III, to create powerful learning experiences for students.
The authors include pre-integration considerations as well as guidelines to help educators effectively merge instructional activities with course content as well as assessment of learning outcomes.
