Student across disciplines now may sign up for an innovative winter session course that explores "arts, film, and music festivals" from a variety of historical, functional, and cultural perspectives.

The Film Festivals: Arts, Industry, Opportunity course engages students in case studies of various festivals through historical research, interviewing and industry/policy analysis, according to course instructor Patricia Zimmerman. The course surveys the history of festivals in terms of "form, function, marketing, community outreach, curatorial missions, and impact on sustainable economic development," Professor Zimmerman notes.

No prerequisites are required to enroll for Film Festivals: Arts, Industry, Opportunity, offered under the auspices of the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies.

Registration continues until December 19 for all of the nearly 30 winter session courses available. Visit www.ithaca.edu/gps/study_programs/winter_session/ for more information or contact the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies at 274-3143.
