Bernd Blossey, associate professor in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University, will speak on invasive species and conservation biology at the Environmental Studies seminar on Monday, December 8.
The seminar will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, in CNR 115; it is free and open to all.
Blossey, formerly head of Cornell's Biological Control of Non-Indigenous Plants Species Program, conducts research on the impacts of invasive plants on native flora and fauna, and on the biological control of non-indigenous plant species in natural areas.
Plant invasions threaten function and integrity of ecosystems and native species across the globe. Blossey is working to make biological control a more predictive science and, through his Extension program, to promote the widespread adoption of biocontrol practices through outreach and education and via partnerships with public agencies and private citizens.
