I wish to announce a reorganization of our Office of Enrollment Management. In the future, Enrollment Management (including the Office of Admission and the Office of Financial Aid) will be headed by a new vice president for enrollment management. This vice president will report directly to me and will be part of the President's Council. Enrollment Management was previously headed by a dean and was part of the provost's office.
These changes are being made because of the ongoing importance of enrollment and tuition to the financial health of the College. Tuition, fees, and other funds that stem directly from student enrollment account for over 90 percent of our operating revenues. In these times particularly, with a declining population in the northeast and a global financial crisis, we must ensure that our enrollment management strategies are bold, innovative, and integrated with the overall strategic direction of the College.
Interim dean of enrollment Management Rit Fuller will continue to lead our enrollment initiatives until the hire of the new vice president. The Offices of the Registrar and Institutional Research, both previously part of Enrollment Management, will report to the associate provost, effective immediately.
A search for the new vice president has already begun, chaired by provost and vice president for academic affairs Kathleen Rountree. Other members of the search are Susan Engelkemeyer, Leslie Lewis, Stephen Lovell, Nancy Pringle, LeBron Rankins, Jim Rothenberg, and John Wolohan. The committee hopes to bring finalists to campus in February.
