After serving since 2005 as dean of the Ithaca College School of Business, Susan West Engelkemeyer has accepted an offer to become dean of the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

“Dean Engelkemeyer has been an extremely effective academic leader, both in the School of Business and for the entire Ithaca College community,” says Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Kathleen Rountree. “Her successes are numerous, including innovative curricular reform, a successful fund-raising campaign, AACSB accreditation, and a spectacular new building. She is extremely well-respected by the students, faculty and administration of Ithaca College. I am confident that she will succeed in her new role, and we will miss her.”

Under Engelkemeyer’s leadership, the School of Business earned initial accreditation by AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, attained a 17-year high in undergraduate first-year student enrollment, and an all-time high in MBA enrollment, and has been included in the “Best 290 Business Schools,” published by “Princeton Review.”

Engelkemeyer was instrumental in the success of the fund-raising campaign that resulted in the new home of the business school, the Dorothy D. and Roy H. Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise. It opened in 2008 as the first facility for a college or university business school in the world to earn platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status, the highest standard of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Engelkemeyer will begin her duties at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth on June 1.
