This year, the Ithaca College School of Music’s annual Black History Month Concert will feature a performance by the Saakumu Dance Association. Free and open to the public, the concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Throughout West Africa, the Saakumu Dance Association is renowned for its performance of traditional Dagara/Ghanaian music and dance. Bernard Woma -- beloved in Ghana and America -- leads the group in a range of spiritual, ceremonial, and recreational genres. The musicians in the group are always eager to share their joyful, expressive music and dance.
