SYNCOPATION WORKSHOPS OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
First Lab: Saturday March 21 @ 3pm in Park 285
Second Lab: During the festival, on Friday April 3 and on Saturday April 4, time and dates TBA
New media artists and FLEFF lab design team Arzu Ozkal-Telhan, Claudia Pederson, and Nick Knouf (check out their bios on the FLEFF website, https://www.ithaca.edu/fleff) invite Ithaca college undergraduates and local high school students to collaborate in two workshops focused on the 2009 FLEFF theme of syncopation.
These events are part of the inaugural edition of FLEFF LAB, an experimental space designed to bring together participants and audiences interested in exploring new media and digital art.
The first workshops is three hours. Running times vary in additional workshops. Our goal in the first workshop is to spend the first half of the event presenting background material and relevant art projects around the use of sound within a variety of media and contexts, such as sound art, cinema, video games, and tactical media.
The presentations will be followed by a collaborative 'brainstorming'session involving your project ideas, tutorials about tools (including ways to do projects on the cheap using open-source software tools and recycled materials), as well as discussion of possible future venues to present our collaborative work.
The second session will provide participants with the opportunity to publicly present their work in an open session designed as a discussion and exploration forum. All the projects will also be archived and linked to the FLEFF website for online audiences.
If you are interested in participating, send a short e-mail to flefflab09@zeitkunst.org.
