Borrowing Folding Tables and Chairs

This is to explain some of the changes that will be occurring regarding the use of folding chairs and tables on campus.

In preparation for fall 2009, all departments are asked to purchase any folding tables and chairs they may require. We will no longer provide them for any non-event use on or off campus. Please feel free to contact the Purchasing office with any purchasing request.

With regard to events, please do not send e-mails or use iService for the reservation or delivery of the inventory. Instead, we kindly ask that all groups or individuals with any folding table or chair needs for any event contact the Office of Conference and Event Services, so that we in Facilities Services can better track and hopefully cut down on inventory shrinkage.

These are the folding blue chairs and folding brown tables you see at almost every event, big or small, on campus. Facilities Services is responsible for the purchasing, storage, and maintenance of all folding chairs and tables and unfortunately much of the inventory is used for purposes other than their intended function. This is not only a costly endeavor -- due to the increasing demand for their use each year -- but one that directly contributes to the shrinkage and damage of the inventory.
