VIC Radio's biggest annual event, the 50-Hour Marathon, is coming up this weekend, April 3-5.

DJs Sam J and Colleen Holiday will stay awake for 50 hours -- from 4:00 p.m. Friday through 6:00 p.m. Sunday -- to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca, the local branch of the nation's leading youth mentoring organization.

The marathon will be broadcast live on vicradio.org and WICB 91.7-FM all weekend, while portions of the marathon will be cablecast on ICTV (channel 16). The marathon team will broadcast live from remote locations all over Ithaca, such as the Ithaca Farmers Market, our own Battle of the Bands contest, a Friday-night dance party at Oasis, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters headquarters at the Ithaca Youth Bureau.

The Battle of the Bands show is the marathon's headlining event. It will be held at the Community School of Music and Arts (330 East State Street) on Saturday, April 4, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.

Local business and private donors sponsor hours of the marathon, with all proceeds going directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Last year, VIC Radio raised $5,000 for the Tompkins County SPCA.

Further information about the Marathon should be directed to Mike D'Agostino at vicpublicrelations@gmail.com.

VIC Radio is an Internet radio station based in the Park School of Communications. The format includes indie rock, power pop, and college rock, plus news, sports, and specialty shows. Listen online at www.vicradio.org.
