Violinist Susan Waterbury, cellist Elizabeth Simkin, and pianist Jennifer Hayghe -- collectively known as the Sheherazade Trio -- will give a free concert on Sunday, April 5, at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The trio's program will include Schoenfield's "Cafe Music," Ravel's Trio, and the second movement of the Schubert E-flat Trio.

The women of the Sheherazade Trio, named for the courageous woman who told 1,001 beguiling and evocative tales to save her own life, are all faculty members at the Ithaca College School of Music; they first performed together in 2006. They were trained at major conservatories and schools of music in the United States by the top teachers of their instruments.

The three musicians have extensive chamber music experience, performing at major concert halls throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Central America. They have also coached and performed chamber music at literally dozens of summer festivals and universities throughout the United States and abroad.

In their first performance of the Shostakovich Second Piano Trio at a festival celebrating the centennial of the composer's birth, the chemistry between the three was undeniable, both musically and personally. They have been enjoying ongoing projects ever since.

Susan, Lizzy, and Jennifer have one dog, two sons, three husbands, and six cats, and they live within a few minutes of each other just south of Ithaca.
