Stephen Sweet, assistant professor of sociology, and his Boston College colleague Judi Casey organized a daylong panel meeting of academics, policy makers, and workplace practitioners.

This meeting addresses the "Intended and Unintended Consequences of Work-Family Policy: Lessons through International Comparison," and takes place at Utrecht University in the Netherlands on April 15, 2009.

The international panel of experts Sweet and Casey recruited include representatives from Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, and the United States.

The meeting is funded through a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. It precedes the "International Community, Work, and Family" conference, during which Sweet and Casey will offer a workshop on resources available through the Sloan Work and Family Research Network.
