IC's Media Literacy initiative, Project Look Sharp (under the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies), offers many diverse internship opportunities.
Applications are due Friday, April 17. Instructions on how to apply may be found below the internship listings.

Summer 2009
Media Construction of Global Warming: Two interns needed
Assist in the completion of a set of unique classroom lessons for High School & College students on the role of media in crafting our understanding of Global Warming. Activities will include research into “green” advertisements as well assisting in lesson layout and editing.
Fall 2009
Media Construction of Social Justice: Two interns needed
Research media for the Media Construction of Social Justice curriculum kit. Research background information and help obtain media documents from the 1830s to present. This internship will help you deepen your media literacy skills through applying document-based questioning techniques and will broaden your understanding of historic justice movements in the United States.
Video Production: One intern needed
Help plan, develop, and create short instructional and promotional videos for the Project Look Sharp website. Interns will need video production and editing skills.
Image Design, Posters, and Flyers: One intern needed
Help plan, design, and create promotional and educational materials related to our curriculum kits (e.g. brochures, flyers, and posters). Skill with Photoshop and other graphics and imaging programs required.
Marketing: Two interns needed
Review, develop, and implement many aspects of our marketing plan, including: designing e-blasts and other online promotions, adding to existing database, researching referral sites, propose and implementing additional promotional activities. Learn and use website analysis tools Urchin and Google Analytics, and present analysis to team.
Elementary Health Curriculum Kit: Two interns needed
Research media (commercials) for the development of elementary lessons on nutrition, body image, bullying, and safety. Help develop, edit, and format lessons. This internship will help deepen your media literacy skills through applying document based questioning techniques and will broaden your understanding of media construction of Health and Nutrition.
Editing, Layout of Curriculum Kits: One intern needed
Read and edit current Project Look Sharp curriculum kits and edit electronic files. Convert kits into new Word templates, and suggest layout solutions. Curriculum kits to work on include "Media Construction of the Middle East" and "Seeing Africa."
