Art History Senior Symposium

The Department of Art History is pleased to announce its first annual Art History Senior Symposium, to take place Tuesday, April 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Klingenstein Lounge. The symposium will feature presentations by six senior art history majors on recent research and exhibition projects.

The program includes:

• Alissa Darsa, "Seeing Double: The Construction of Black Identity in Visual Culture"
• Charles Tonks, "The Origins and Evolution of the Shopping Mall"
• Alden Hall, "A Discussion of Sustainable Architecture and Style"
• Emily Gachot, "Now That the Dust Has Settled: The Art History Interns' View of the 2009 Senior Student Show"
• Siobhan Sims, "Decoding de Kooning"
• Kate Castle, "Gender Ideology in German Dadaist Art: The Fashion Photomontages of Raoul Hausmann and Hannah Hoch"

Light refreshments will be available, and the event is free and open to the public. It promises to be a stimulating kick-off to what will become an annual departmental event.
