On Sunday, April 19, at 8:15 p.m., the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble will perform their last free Ford Hall concert for the year in the James J. Whalen Center for Music.

Pianist Bill Dobbins will be the guest artist and soloist for the evening. From the Department of Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music, Dobbins has collaborated with such musicians as Clark Terry, Paquito D'Rivera, John Goldsby, and Al Cohn, and has performed under such classical conductors as Pierre Boulez and Louis Lane.

Bill Dobbins will also be joined by Steve Brown and Chuck Israels for a special reunion of their trio. Israels is currently teaching at Western Washington University in Bellingham, where he is the head of the jazz department, and Brown is recently retired from his position as the director of jazz studies at Ithaca College, and is currently living in Ithaca. Aside from the musicians being in touch over the years and occasionally collaborating with each other, the trio has not performed together in over 20 years.

The Jazz Ensemble will be performing a variety of tunes, such as an arrangement of "Love Boat" by the group's director, Michael Titlebaum, "Channel One Suite," and other tunes by Titlebaum and Bill Dobbins, with several that he recorded with the world-famous WDR big band in Cologne.
