Department of Writing Announces 2009 Writing Contest Winners

The Department of Writing is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Writing Contest. We again had hundreds of entries and our judges completed the tough job of selecting winners in each category.

Fiction

Expository Essay

First-Year Essay

There will be a reading and celebration for the 2009 Writing Contest winners at the Handwerker Gallery on Thursday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. Students will read from their winning entries and an open reading will follow at 7:30 p.m. We urge you to come and listen and to bring your own poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for the Open Reading.

The Department of Writing will distribute a small volume of the winning entries as well as post the student work to our department's website.
