Professor of Spanish Gladys Varona-Lacey was named to the College Board's inaugural Advanced Placement Higher Education Advisory Committee.

This select committee is comprised of college and university faculty members, admissions officers, AP administrators, an AP teacher, and a legislative/policy official from institutions across the country. Much like the committee who advises the SAT, this group functions as the AP's advisers on best practices and policies related to higher education issues.

The role of the AP Higher Education Advisory Committee is to serve as an external review panel for the AP program, specifically for policies, procedures, and activities related to higher education. The committee is responsible for advising AP program staff on issues related to AP and its relationship with colleges and universities.
