I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bashar Hanna as the associate provost for academic programs and initiatives. He comes to Ithaca College after serving as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Kutztown University since 2005.

Prior to that appointment, he held positions at DeVry University-Pennsylvania and Temple University in various leadership roles including assistant vice provost, associate dean, and dean.

The associate provost for academic programs and initiatives is a newly titled position with expanded responsibility (previously the assistant provost).

Duties will include leadership in the execution of programs, activities, and services for student academic achievement and success; overseeing the development and implementation of student learning assessment programs and policies; collaboration on projects in support of students, including student organizations, first-year initiatives, and undergraduate research; and overseeing the Office of Academic Enrichment Services.

The associate provost for academic programs will also be a key player in the upcoming discussions around general education and integrative learning.

Bashar Hanna will begin his appointment on August 17. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and I am confident he will provide effective leadership that will benefit Ithaca College in the future.
