November 12 – Helping Hands Across America - Help Stop Hunger
On November 12th, Ithaca Dining Services will be hosting a Campus Dining Resident Dining Promotion Series called the Helping Hands Across America Can Drive. On this day, we will be collecting non-perishable food items in the hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record for the greatest amount of canned goods collected in one day! All the donations will go towards benefiting the Danby and Freeville Food Pantry.
Facts about Hunger:
• More than one in ten households suffer from hunger in the United States, which represents 4% of the total households
• Out of the households suffering from hunger, 12.6 million of those people are children
• Research has shown that children who experience severe hunger have higher levels or chronic illness, anxiety and depression, and behavior problems than children who do not experience hunger
• Internationally, almost 16,000 children die each day from hunger related causes
As Ithaca College students, faculty, and staff, we should care about these figures and strive to make changes. Start to make a difference now. As a reminder, the non-perishable can drive will be held on November 12th all day at every dining location.

This food drive is designed to help those less fortunate who need food. Come help these people by donating canned goods to any of the dining halls.
November 13 – America Recycles Day Celebration

America Recycles is a program of recycling professionals and businesses from all over the country. Learn and help promote the social, environmental, and economic benefits of recycling while encouraging more people to join in the movement to create a better environment.
