HPPE Graduate Students Pass National Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Exam

Rachel Poczatek, B.S., '08, M.S., '09 and Hanna Weiss, B .S. '08. are the first Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education (HPPE) students to sit for and pass the national certification exam for Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). The exam was given in April 2009.

According to the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC), this certification benefits practioners and the public by establishing a national standard of practice for all health educators, attests to the individual health educator's knowledge and skills, assists employers in identifying qualified health education practioners,  develops a sense of pride and accomplishment among certified health educators, and promotes continued professional development.
