The Ithaca College Concert Band will give a free concert entitled “Bloc Party” on Wednesday, October 7 at 8:15 pm in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Mark Fonder will conduct music about or from Russia and eastern Europe, including music by Kozhevnikov, Husa, Tschesnekov, Gulyas, Gliere, Cesarini, and Doss.
The Concert Band, conducted by Mark Fonder, and the Symphonic Band, conducted by Elizabeth Peterson, are bands of approximately 75 players each. The majority of performers in these ensembles are music majors, and the two bands consist of players of equal talent and experience. These bands perform six concerts per year both on and off campus. Repertoire consists of the finest traditional and contemporary literature for the full concert band. The Concert and Symphonic Bands rehearse four hours per week.
