Psychology Professor Barney Beins gave presentations at the New England Psychological Association (NEPA) convention and the annual meeting of the Northeastern Conference for Teachers of Psychology (NECTOP) in Worcester, Massachusetts on October 9 and 10.
His NEPA presentation was entitled Humor research is nothing to laugh at: Teaching sound research methodology with engaging projects. It was part of the symposium, "Thinking outside the text: Fun can be pedagogically sound." The symposium included Professor Christine Marco from Rhode Island College and Professor Mary O'Keeffe from Providence College.
His NECTOP presentation was Resources for Teaching International and Societal Contexts in the History of Psychology Course. His co-presenter was Professor Wade Pickren of Ryerson University in Toronto, president of the Society for the History of Psychology.
NECTOP is an annual teaching conference that was created 15 years ago at Ithaca College and is now a pre-convention conference prior to NEPA.
