The 2009 Family Weekend will be held November 6-8. A full listing of events for the weekend is available online:
Our parent keynote address on Saturday at 9:00 am in the Park auditorium features Regan Rockhill, the in-house financial and accounting expert for the law firm Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC. Mr. Rockhill’s daughter is a senior majoring in exercise science and minoring in biology and mathematics.
Our faculty keynote address features Michael Trotti, associate professor of history who will present “A Brief History of Ithaca College” on Friday at 5:30 in Klingenstein Lounge.
The School of Music will present three concerts in Ford Hall. Friday night will feature the Concert Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble at 8:15 p.m.; Saturday night will showcase the Symphonic Band and Jazz Workshop, also at 8:15 p.m.; and the Choral Ensembles will close the weekend's musical performances at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Families and their students will also attend the Ithaca College Theatre production of “The Children of Eden” on Friday at 8:00 or Saturday at 2:00.
Other student performers are featured during the One World Concert presented by the Ithaca College International Club at 7:00 pm on Friday, the Student Performance Showcase on Saturday at 3:30, and the First Year Cabaret on Sunday at 11:00. All three events will be held in Emerson Suites.
Faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to attend throughout the weekend. The families of our students are looking forward to meeting the people their students interact with at the College.
The full schedule of events is available online. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend as many of the non-ticketed events as you would like. Bring your family as well. (Ticketed events have limited seating reserved for students' families, although seats may be available at show time.)
Students whose parents are unable to attend are also welcome to attend any non-ticketed events. Students who would like to attend ticketed events can stop by the registration area in the north foyer of Phillips Hall beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday to check on ticket availability. Students whose parents are attending can pick up their registration materials in the north foyer of Phillips Hall beginning at 11:00 on Friday as well. Please bring your ID.
The Family Weekend luncheon will be on Saturday, November 1 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Hall. We welcome and strongly encourage faculty and staff to attend this luncheon; there is no cost to IC faculty and staff who wish to attend. You will be treated to music provided by a student jazz quintet , as well as by the faculty and staff choir IC VoICes. If you would like to attend the luncheon, just stop by Terrace Dining Hall during the scheduled lunch time and we’ll be happy to provide you with a ticket so you can meet and socialize with our students and their parents.
