Acting on the recommendation of the search committee for the Dean of the School of Business, I am pleased to announce three finalists for the position. Each will visit the campus within the next three weeks.
Dr. Mary Ellen Zuckerman will be on campus November 2-3. She served as Dean and Professor in the School of Business at SUNY Geneseo from 1999-2008, and now holds the title of Distinguished Service Professor. She led the School of Business through initial AACSB-International accreditation, oversaw the creation of a Master’s in Accounting program, created Business Advisory Council Faculty Excellence Awards, procured external funding for scholarships and professorships, and oversaw the work of several centers (Center for Women and Business, Center for International Business, and the Small Business Development Center and Center for Survey Research). Dr. Zuckerman was a Visiting Associate Professor at McGill University in 1990-1991. She has served as President and on the Executive Committee of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Colleges of Business Administration (MAACBA) as well as having served as a Council Member of the American Marketing Association Collegiate Activities Committee.
Dr. Susan McTiernan will be on campus on November 12-13. She has served as Associate Dean at the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University and at the Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University, where she consistently earned awards for exceptional administrative performance. Dr. McTiernan is currently a Visiting Associate Professor of Management at the College of Business at the University of New Haven. She has also served as an elected member of the Graduate Management Admission Council’s Board of Trustees and in leadership within AACSB International as Vice Chair of the Women Administrators in Management Education Affinity Group (WAME). She holds membership in the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) of New York, The Academy of Management, The International Association for Business and Society (IABS), and Beta Gamma Sigma.
Dr. Robert Pitts will be on campus November 16-17. He is a Professor of Marketing at the School of Business and Economics at the College of Charleston, where he served as Dean of the School of Business and Economics from 2004 to 2008. Prior to joining the College of Charleston, he served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for seven years. From 1985 until 1997 Dr. Pitts served at DePaul University as Professor and Chair in the Department of Marketing and as Director of the Kellstadt Center for Marketing Analysis and Planning. His university experience includes serving as an Associate Professor and Director of the Bureau of Business Research at the University of Mississippi and Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Notre Dame. He served as President of the Academic Council and Vice President of the Education Division of the American Marketing Association for 1999-2000.

Each finalist has been asked to speak on the following topic during their open presentation – “Visions, Connections, and Partnerships: The Business School’s Future as a Distinctive Academic Program, a Critical Component of a Comprehensive College, and an Innovative Partner with External Communities.”
The open presentations will be held in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the Whalen Center for Music at the following times, and will be followed by a public reception.
