Phil Langan, who spent six years as sports information director at Ithaca, passed away Nov. 23.
Langan worked as Ithaca's sports information director from 1967 to 1973. He was the first person inducted into Ithaca's Hall of Fame who was not an athlete or a coach; Langan was the Hall of Fame's only inductee in 1974. During his tenure at Ithaca, Langan won 15 awards for his publications earning top honors for his baseball, basketball, football and soccer brochures.
He went on to serve as SID at Princeton and Brown and was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Veterans Hall of Fame at last summer's CoSIDA workshop. He was part of the inaugural class of inductees.
