Ithaca College’s celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. begins this year with a MLK Week kick-off program on Monday, January 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. The Amani Gospel Singers will perform, President Tom Rochon will deliver remarks, and the first-year MLK Scholars will offer reflections on their weeklong tour visiting key places and people from the Civil Rights movement.

As part of the kick-off program, beginning at 4:30 p.m., President Tom Rochon will moderate a "listening session" designed to provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to share their views on critical issues that the College is facing at the present time related to diversity.  Members of the Diversity Strategic Planning Committee, President's Advisory Committee on Diversity, and the Diversity Awareness Committee will be present.

The session will allow members of these committees to hear from the campus community and help to direct them in their important work. The session will also assist the College to create the kind of campus community we hope to build over the next five years as the College develops its Diversity Strategic Plan.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the entire Martin Luther King kick-off program, or either part of the program, based on your availability. We look forward to this very exciting opportunity!
