Professor Janice Levy from the Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts Department, was part of a four-member team in Saudi Arabia for ten days in January conducting workshops on academic leadership.
Professor Levy’s workshops on chairing an academic department were for women from Princess Nora Bint Abdlurahman University, King Saud University, and Al-Imam Muhammed Ibn Saud Islamic University, all in Riyadh.
The team (two women and two men) was sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Academic Leadership Center, which is under the auspices of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Team members were drawn from the Honors College at Florida Atlantic University, the University of San Francisco School of Education, the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, and the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.
The other female member of the academic leadership team was Susan Engelkemeyer, former dean of the business school at Ithaca College, now dean of Charlton College of Business, U-Mass.
Professor Levy will give a brown-bag presentation on her experiences in Saudi Arabia in early February.
