Sir Partha Dasgupta will discuss “The Economics of Sustainable Development” on Wednesday, February 3rd at 4:00PM in the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise Room 103. Dasgupta has been named an A. D. White Professor-at-large at Cornell University.
Sir Partha Dasgupta, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 for his services to economics, is the Frank Ramsey Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge. His research interests include the economics of sustainable development, as well as studies of population, environmental, and resource economics.
Dasgupta has been quoted: “The challenges of sustainability cannot be the province of ecologists or economists alone, but must involve collaboration among diverse disciplines. We must understand better the linkages between Nature and the services it provides society… find ways to translate this knowledge into economic terms, and … utilize that information to build strategies for achieving sustainability.”
This presentation is jointly sponsored by the Department of Economics and the Sustainability Initiative at Ithaca College.
This event is free and open to the public.
