The acahti players are seeking freshmen, sophomores, and juniors for the only longform improv comedy troupe on campus. Auditions will be held this Sunday, March 7th, at 3 pm in the Dillingham center, studio 3.
Longform improvisational comedy is about creating a story - writing a play as you perform it. It was developed by the improv olympic and the Second City in Chicago, and it is the basis of most sketch comedy in theaters today.
The acahti players improv troupe was founded in 2003 by Dan Stermer (BA - drama). Acahti alums have gone on to perform or train with both the Improv Olympic and Second City conservatories (Duncan Miller, BA - drama, Dan Stermer). Two of acahti's founding members recently performed an original sketch show at the Gorilla Tango Theater in Chicago (Teeny Lamothe, BFA - acting, & Dan Stermer). Another alum is currently performing the role of William Barfee in Spelling Bee at Philadelphia's Media Theatre (Jay Schmidt, BFA - musical theatre).
