Professor Amanullah De Sondy presents at the Department of Religion, Boston University

Professor Amanullah De Sondy, Assistant Professor in World Religions - Department of Philosophy and Religion, will present two classes and a public lecture at Boston University's Department of Religion on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th March. 

Firstly, speaking to a class on Women & Religion on his research focus on Islamic Masculinities.  Secondly, speaking to a class on Western Religions on the subject of Islam and Muslims in Scotland.  He will also deliver a public lecture on the famous 19th century Mughal poet, Mirza Ghalib, exploring his love of alcohol and courtesans and in turn dissecting his hedonistic Islamic masculinity and raising the question, in view of Qur'anic constructions of masculinities, whether he is to be regarded a drunk or a saint.
