I am pleased to announce the visit of the second finalist for the position of Dean of the Park School of Communications.
Dr. John V. Pavlik will visit the campus on Tuesday, March 9. Dr. Pavlik is Chair of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, and Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University. Prior to that position, he served as professor at Columbia University, where he was the Executive Director of the Center for New Media, and at San Diego State University, where he was the founding director of the School of Communication. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Mass Communication, both from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of an extensive list of books and book chapters, including the recently published volume “Converging Media”, 2nd Edition, which is co-authored with Shawn McIntosh and published by Oxford University Press. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Press Association and as an advisor to the National Black Programming Consortium in Harlem. He will present an open session on “The Future of Communications Education” on Tuesday, March 9 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Klingenstein Lounge, which is open to the entire campus community, and will be followed by a reception.
