On Thursday March 11, Ithaca College trumpet professor Frank Gabriel Campos and several of his friends will present a recital of classical and jazz music at 7pm in Hockett Family Recital Hall.   The concert is free and open to the public.

Campos and pianist Jennifer Hayghe will play "Intrada" by French composer Arthur Honegger, and "Sonata for Trumpet and Piano" by American Halsey Stevens, both important works in the trumpet repertory. The program will also include George Gershwin’s Piano Preludes and "Bess You is My Woman Now" from the opera Porgy and Bess, which were specially arranged for trumpet and string bass by Campos and IC bass professor Nicholas Walker.

Campos will perform Leonard Bernstein’s “Some Other Time” from the musical On the Town with pianist John White, and he will be joined by trombonist Hal Reynolds and the newly formed Ithaca College Jazz Quartet, which includes saxophonist Mike Titlebaum, pianist John Stetch, bassist Walker, and drummer Tom Killian, to play two works composed by jazz saxophonist John Coltrane, "Giants Steps" and "Central Park West."

Campos will also play IC composer Dana Wilson’s “I Remember…," an award winning composition for trumpet solo that pays homage to jazz trumpeters Louis Armstrong, Clifford Brown, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis.
