Michael Serino, student media adviser in the Roy H. Park School of Communications, presented two sessions at the Spring National College Media Convention in New York City, March 13–16.
“Philosophy for Journalists: The Problem of Suffering” explored the application of virtue ethics to the role of the journalist, with particular reference to the encounter with, and representation of, human suffering.
“Multimedia: A New Form of Storytelling” examined the ways in which new media can be used not just as add-ons to traditional stories, but combined into a complex, nuanced storytelling vehicle.
