Dr. Hector Velez will be talking about the history of Latinos and Latino-based organizations at Ithaca College and how they have contributed to the IC community. Latinos have a rich history at IC and we want to commemorate it and celebrate it. Let's learn about all the AMAZING things that Latinos have contributed to IC and how we can continue to leave our mark on this beautiful campus.

Dr. Hector Velez taught at Ithaca College for twenty years and was a founding member of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity. He also served as the chair of the Socoiology Department where he taught courses related to Social Inequality, Race and Ethnicity, and Latinos in the U.S. In addition, he served as Interim Director of Multicultural Affairs. He was also an adviser for SOL (Sociedad Latino) and the African-Latino Society, both at Ithaca College.
He is a founding member of the Latino Studies Program at Cornell University and currently serves as a faculty fellow for the Latino Living Center. He is also the adviser for Quisqueya: Dominican Students Association, Sabor Latino Dance Ensemble, and La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. He continues to be on the advisory board for the Latino Studies Program at Cornell and still teaches Latinos in the U.S.
