Jean Chatzky, an award-winning journalist, best-selling author, and financial editor for NBC’s Today, will serve as the Jessica Savitch Distinguished Journalism Lecturer. Chatzky's lecture, "Money 911: Teaching Americans to Cope Financially in a Changing World," will be Wednesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites.
Chatzky is the author of many books, including The Difference: How Anyone Can Prosper in Even the Toughest Times; Make Money, Not Excuses; and Pay It Down: From Debt to Wealth on $10 A Day. She is a contributing editor for More Magazine, a columnist for The New York Daily News, and a contributor to The Oprah Winfrey Show. She blogs daily at JeanChatzky.com.
Using the proven principles in Pay it Down, Jean recently launched an online program to help people get out of debt (available at jeanchatzky.com/debtdiet). Debt Diet Online, developed with Pro-Change Behavior Systems, evaluates a user’s readiness to pay down their debt and creates a customized plan of action.
Sponsored by the Roy H. Park School of Communications, the Jessica Savitch Distinguished Journalism Lecture Series brings a broadcast journalist to campus each year to honor the legacy of Jessica Savitch, the 1968 Ithaca College graduate who became an Emmy Award–winning NBC News anchor and correspondent. Previous speakers in the series have included Lester Holt, Ann Curry, David Muir ’95, Andrea Mitchell and Cokie Roberts.
