Speech Team Success Continues

The Ithaca College Forensics Team continued to enjoy tremendous success in the Spring. 

 

 

The Ithaca College Forensics Team continued to enjoy tremendous success in the Spring.  The team just returned from the Novice Nationals Tournament which was held at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson Kansas.  The team competed in a variety of events including Prose, Poetry, Dramatic Interpretation of Literature and two different types of debate.

Krystina Drasher (13) was the top seed after the preliminary rounds in Lincoln Douglas style debating and lost in the Semifinals.  Caleb McWhorter (13) was recognized as the top speaker in the Lincoln Douglas Division.  Jessica Motellaro (13) and Brian Rank (12) finished 3-3 in the Parliamentary Debate Division and Jessica was recognized at the 9th speaker.  Akin Oni-Orisan (13) competed in Prose, Poetry, and Dramatic Interpretation. The tournament was attended by 35 schools from around the country.

The success at Novice Nationals was preceded by outstanding performances earlier in the semester with an outstanding 4-2 performance at the Lafayette College tournament were Caleb McWhorter finished with a 4-2 record, the regional championship where Akin Oni-Orisan finished in 2nd place in Poetry, the Suffolk University Tournament where Krystina Drasher was the champion in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Caleb McWhorter a semifinalist, and Akin Oni-Orisan winning 1st place in Poetry and 4th place in Prose.
