Still Time to Sign-up to be a Commencement Usher!

04/07/10

Contributed by Suzanne Smith

The Office of Student Affairs and Campus Life and the Office of the Registrar are still recruiting ushers for Ithaca College's One Hundred and Fifteenth Commencement exercises to be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010. Many of us have had daily contact with the fine young men and women of the 2010 graduation class, and have played an important role in their experience at Ithaca College.

To ensure that the Commencement exercises are carried out in an orderly, distinguished manner, we are requesting your help to serve as an usher. This function is vital as many guests are not familiar with the College, its buildings and their location. The duties will vary according to your specific assignment. For those ushers assisting parents and guests, program distribution, guest seating, answering questions and giving directions, are all responsibilities that you could be called upon to do to help maintain a dignified and orderly ceremony.  For those ushers assisting our graduates, the responsibilities include managing on the field seating and maintaining order.

If you would like to work as an usher either assisting guests or helping graduates on this special day, please go to:
