Professor Jason Hamilton of the Environmental Studies & Sciences Department has been awarded a National Science Foundation research grant to investigate the hypothesis that plant photosynthesis increases as a result of changes in plant metabolism on exposure to the saliva of the herbivorous mirid insect (Tupiocoris notatus). Professor Hamilton will be conducting this research in collaboration with Andre Kessler, in Cornell University’s Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology.
