Wednesday, April 28th @ 7pm in Textor 103, the Ithaca Community is invited to hear Jewish-American independent journalist Jared Malsin present the facts and fiction about the suppression of media in the Palestinian Territories. Jared was working for the Ma’an News Agency in the West Bank as an English editor and journalist before being deported by the Israeli government this past January.

The event will include Jared’s 45-minute lecture and examples of an independent video project by the Heb2 Group based in Hebron, the West Bank. Jared’s lecture will also be followed by a question and answer discussion.

Ithaca College students Abby Cook, Elise Springuel and Jon Tantillo, who organized this event, have studied the continuing human rights violations, including the suppression of media in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. They are eager to learn about and share Jared’s knowledge of the situation as well as his personal experiences. This event is free and open to the public. Co-sponsors for this event include the Sociology Department, the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies, Anthropology Department, Politics Department, and the Park Center for Independent Media.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Abby Cook at acook2@ithaca.edu.
