Carol Jennings was recently named Director of the Park Media Lab. Under the umbrella of this new Lab, she will oversee current and new media production and programming for Ithaca College Television (ICTV) and Park Productions as well as pursue new opportunities for programming, funding, and distribution of content.
The Park Media Lab will provide students interested in video, film, and multimedia production with more varied and challenging opportunities in hands-on production, program development, crew management, and working on funded projects alongside professional media producers. The Lab will also offer new opportunities for both student and faculty involvement, including producing podcasts and web series, covering concerts and events, distributing student films and video programs, and doing R&D projects with new media technologies and formats.
Jennings began at Ithaca College in October of 1996 as manager of the professional production unit, also called Park Productions, a production company in which students collaborate with professionals in creating media content. For more than 40 years, Park Productions has produced media (documentary and fiction) for all distribution platforms. Partners, sponsors, and clients have included many departments on campus, and also PBS, the Showtime Network, the Discovery Channel, Cornell University, the Sciencenter, the Ithaca/Tompkins Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Finger Lakes Wine Country, and the Park Foundation.
Peter Johanns, Associate Professor of Television and Radio, who has managed ICTV for the last three years, will continue to mentor executive staff for ICTV and will be teaching an elective course for ICTV producers.
