“You Are What You Eat," a film by Ginalola Lowry (Dec. ’09), was selected for Hungry Filmmakers, a film screening series featuring the efforts of food-conscious filmmakers.
The screening will take place on May 24, 2010 at Anthology Film Archives. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Just Food, an organization dedicated to improving access to fresh, seasonal, sustainable food for all New York City residents.
“You Are What You Eat" is a personal documentary that was directed and produced by Lowry for Professor John Scott’s Video Workshop course in Fall 2009. The film focuses on the critical question: What are we losing as a society and a culture since we know less and less about the food we consume and how it is prepared? Lowry explains, “from 15-minute diner food to a home cooked meal that takes hours to prepare and consume, the challenge is not finding the time but changing our habits as individuals in order to restore certain qualities to life.” She uses her experience to try and change at least one meal if not the eating habits of the people around her.
